Missing "E" on Delaware Quarter

Does anyone have any information about the missing "e" in "STATE' on the
back of the Delaware State Quarter. I have heard about it, but can not find
any facts on same.

On your posting below.

What is the Mint Marking on your Quarter? "P", "D",
or (Proof coin), "S".

Is this a cirulated coin? (Not a Proof Coin).

Delaware was the first state Quarter to be issued back in
1999. I looked at my Delaware Coin that was Issued from
the Denver Mint. No letter "E" is missing. My proof coins
are in my Bank Safe Depostit Box. I will make a note to
check for a missing letter "E" on the coin when I go to my
safe depost box.

To my knowledge there has never been a report of a missing "E" because of an
error die, so I would assume the only missing "E" would be from a die with
grease and debris filling the recessed area that creates the letter "E".
Most buyers would not pay a large premium for that type of variety although
a seller might get a small premium.

Went through my BU roll of Delawares for the first time since I bought them.
Not a missing "E" in the bunch.Not even a weak E. But holy crow.Those are
some bright shiny quarters!! Almost prooflike. How do you go about
cherrypicking from an original roll. I've got one of each of the first 5 and
I know that maybe MS 69's and likely MS 70's are worth anything.

Since the beginning of the quarter roll program, I have searched 7
uncirculated Philadelphia rolls of each state quarter (excepting Hawaii) and
seven to ten or more Denver rolls. In all of my searches, I have found
perhaps 20 coins that might grade MS66 and of those maybe one or two could
make a MS67 grade, on a lucky day. Oh, there may have been a possible MS68
once or twice but those were the ones I would drop on the tiled floor and
watch them roll across the room.
