Best option for selling.

Some recent medical set backs are going to force me to sell some coins.
I'll be putting my SLQ collection up for sale. Most of the coins are AU to
MS, though un-graded. I have excellent photos of them all.

I'm wondering if its best to list these on ebay individually or as a
collection?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I much doubt that anyone is going to buy an entire set of anything off eBay,
except at firesale prices. Of course, if you sell them individually, you
will have some get no action at all and others will be very disappointing.
There are also the issues of fakes, cleaning, overgrading, etc., that can
cause friction between buyer and seller (not that there are any flies on
your coins, of course, but not everyone will agree, especially on anything
you dare to call MS). Ask yourself if you are prepared to interface with a
snarky public over something that may have been your pride and joy for many
years.

Perhaps you could consign them to a dealer such as J. Cline (assuming that
SLQ stands for standing, not seated, liberty) or some other trusted dealer.
I currently have several dozen of my coppers consigned to one that I have
known for 30 years, but the market is unusually fickle and cynical these
days, so it can take an awfully long time to liquidate a group of coins,
believe me.

I am aware of the possibility of debate. Most of these standing liberties I
have purchased from Great Southern and I have saved the photos they used,
evidence if ever stolen. GS sometimes does overgrade, but I bought the
coin, not the grade.
