Coin collectors flood into Marysville
Port Huron, MI
March 15, 2009
The American Legion Post 449 was filled with visitors
from throughout the state this morning looking to
get their hands on a piece of history and an investment.
Nearly 40 vendors and dozens of buyers came to the
post for the 32nd annual Marysville Coin Club Coin
Show.
Jack Lavis, one of the founding members of the
club, said the fluctuating price of precious metals
and the poor economy are driving up the interest
in coins.
While buying and selling coins can be one method of
making some extra money or investing in something
that is expected to increase in value, club member
Norm Hart said it's all about the history in the
currency for him.
"You can almost feel electricity when you hold
it," he said.
