There are two stories below. One is today (10/23/08), and the other is dated
on (10/10/08). Both stories about a white power found in rolls of coins.
Both
stories here in Arizona. One location in Apache Junction, Arizona. The other
location in Scottsdale, Arizona.
I wonder if they do business with the same bank, or have and employee that
worked at both location?

SCOTTSDALE - A suspicious white powder found in a roll of
coins briefly caused a north Scottsdale Starbucks to close
briefly Thursday morning.
Officials are continuing to investigate after hazmat crews
immediately determined that the substance was not harmful,
Scottsdale police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark said.
The Starbucks has reopened.
"At this point we are investigating whether there was
any malicious intent," Clark said.
Police received the initial call at about 7:45 a.m.
that an employee had discovered a white powder in a
roll of coins at the Starbucks located at 32421 N.
Scottsdale Road.
The employee told police that there was more than
enough of the substance to raise suspicions, Clark
said.
There were three employees who potentially would
have been exposed, Clark said.
Police are encouraging people to be vigilant about
any suspicious substances in light of nine Chase
bank branches who received letters with white powder
earlier this week.
The coffee shop does not bank with Chase, Clark said.

Several people may have been exposed to a suspicious white
substance hidden in rolls of coins that were opened at Café
Laguna on Friday.
At least five people were quarantined at 5 p.m. inside the
restaurant, on Apache Trail near Meridian Road, while a
hazmat team evaluated their exposure.
The hazmat team did not quarantine a nearby bank, though
the coins and the substance had been in the building. The
coins were sealed in a bag until they left the bank,
according to Apache Junction Fire Department officials.
There was no information on where the coins originated.
No further information was immediately available.

Maybe that's what happens if you eat sugar donuts while re-rolling
your latest search batch.
It would be interesting to know exactly what the powders were since
they apparently aren't toxic substances.
When I was a kid swapping rolls at the bank in the 1950s, they
required me to put my name and phone number on rolls I turned in.
That no longer seems to be the case, probably out of privacy and
security concerns.
