Acquired from a Burger King purchase a new 2009 Lincoln Cent with the
formative years reverse. It is shiny but has some black crud around
the rim already. I am currently in Austin, Texas.

Izat the first 2009 you've found in circulation?

I haven't seen a 2009 in circulation yet. It could be that I live in the
hinterlands.

The only 2009 USA coins that I have seen so far in my daily commercial
activity are plentiful 'P' and 'D' Sacs and 'D' WHHarrison Prezzies and a very
few 'D' DC quarters. I do have a few 'log cabin' cents, too, but they were
given to me by a coin guy.

Put a $20 into a toll machine in one of the downtown parking ramps here in
Appleton and you'll get 19 of them back!

Hmmmm. Machines don't count, IMO. A human has to make a decision on the
spot to hand you a dollar coin instead of a dollar bill. Can you picture
getting 19 dollar coins in change for a $20 from a human in the toll booth?
Only a machine would do that to you. I still have yet to receive a dollar
coin in change in the past 40 years. If I should expire without having
received one, there will be a post-it-note remarking such on my lapel and a
Sac over each eye.

I went to my local Blockbuster to rent movies last weekend, adn the
guy asked me if i minded getting 2 of "these" dollar coins back for
change, and of course I told him I would take them, and the other 4
that he says were in the drawer. Ended up with 5 Pres Dollars and a
Sac-D, and have actually rec'd 2 1979 SBA's in change in the past 2
weeks, a D and an S.

I am from the Amarillo area and I have metal detected 2 new pennies in about
same weeks. Both pretty scuzzed up for being in/on the ground for such a
short time.

I'm currently in Austin, TX, as well, and have gotten quite a few
"Birth and early childhood" and "Formative years" in change. Haven't
gotten any other 2009's, though.
