You can even create a little slide show using multiple coins where one
coin fades in, displays for a few seconds, fades out, then the next coin
fades in, and so on. A black background can look really nice here,
unless the coin is very dark, a darkly patinated copper or bronze, for
instance.
But at least with my Windows Vista system, you have to wait until at
least a minute of inactivity for the slideshow to kick in, and there's
often a lot of background operations going on, which means it can take a
lot longer than a minute. Screensaver utilities can get around this. I
just started using SaverNow (http://www.freeutils.net/savernow), a
Windows freeware utility that among other things allows you to assign a
hotkey to the tray icon it creates, letting you, say, hit Shift-Alt-S to
immediately begin seeing your coin slideshow.
It's a fun way to get a quick coin fix, another way to further enjoy
your coins. This assumes you have interesting coins. <g> You can of
course rotate different coins in and out of your slide show. Right now
I'm using a Lydian electrum trite c. 600 BC, a full-crest silver
Athenian Owl c. 440 BC, and an Alexander the Great lifetime gold stater
c. 325 BC. Moving forward in time...
Anybody use other screensaver utilities for this purpose?

Just as a word of caution...You should be careful with free screensavers as
they are sometimes used as a vehicle carrying a virus or a bot payload.
Same goes for "free" music.
Not to disparage Reid's suggestion at all, these things can be fun and the
site he quotes may be perfectly safe. If I knew what sites were dangerous
I'd tell everybody. Just download to disk and have your virus software
check it before installing.

The above checks out fine with McAfee. Good advice about being careful,
and this applies to any freeware.
