So I guess quality from the US Mint is a thing of the past???

Silver proof set arrived today with fingerprints. Had to return a
proof set 4 times due to corrosion on pennies, grease on pres.
dollars, and other marks. Not to mention the sorry packaging in an
oversized box where they just crinkle up some paper on it and call it
the day. What was wrong with the small form fit boxes used for
shipping? Why fix what isn't broken?

According to Coin World the problem now extends to proof sets too.
Check the cents but also the silver - contaminated wash solution
caused spotting on some early sets.

But fingerprints on proofs? WTF?

I wish I could say the same. One of my silver proof sets not only
came complete with trapped dust, but also had a cud on the obverse
above and slightly to the right of the "9".
