Horst Hahne was born in Germany but became an Australian citizen. He
is best known for creating the classic design of the Aboriginal elder
that appears on the reverse of the Australian standard circulating two
dollar coin. Click on the link below, and you will also see a photo of
One Pound Jimmy, the Aboriginal elder portrayed on the coin, as well
as a few other images of Mr Hahne's coin designs that you may well
recognise. In addition, Mr Hahne was kind enough, after his
retirement, to send me a full list of all the coins and medals he ever
designed or modelled, plus an overview of his career. He gave me
permission to publish these, and these also appear in my topic. Click
