The 1915 Philippine five centavo coin was minted in a very small quantity,
in proof only, and in copper-nickel. If you still insist that your coin is
copper, check it carefully again.
The 1915 ONE centavo coin was struck in bronze, and catalogs from 50c in
average circulated condition up to several dollars if it is uncirculated
with absolutely no problems.
You can verify this in the Redbook if you happen to have a copy.

I'm sorry I miss read this one, are you sure this isn't a One Centavo
coins? Because in the standard cataloge of world coins for 2008 do not
list a Five Centavo coin for the philippines in 1915. Maybe its a 1916?

My error. There is a 1915 Phillipines one centavo in bronze, and it is
somewhat pricey. But before we say just how pricey, let's make sure what we
are talking about. All the 1915 coins should have an S mintmark on them.
Please check over your coin and post again. We'll get this figured out
eventually.

Are you sure that's not a 1945 with an altered or damaged date?
According to the pictures in my Red Book the eagle and shield are all
wrong for any date before 1937.

That settles it. The composition is copper-nickel-zinc, and it is a 1945-S,
yes, look closely at the date, 5 centavos coin in maybe fine condition. The
coin lists at 25c in VFin the latest Krause catalog.

I don't know foreign world coins go for tad bit more than price guild
in most coin shop, or at least the dealers price foreign coins higher.
Usually 5% - 10% higher. On ebay your going to pay more due to
shipping and some coins are harder to find than others. Then again if
you run into a dealer who just happens to have foreign coins and
doesn't deal in them you can get them way below price guide. Sometimes
you even get small lots with silver coins in them for way under spot
price if the dealer doesn't know the coins. Its actually better for
him if he is buy large groups of foreign coins and sales them just
above whole sale.

not stop to worry about any of this, but rather, to enjoy the education that
accrues from the study of world coins and the cultures that produced them.
