Talk about billions; the automakers GM, Chrysler and Ford were in Washington
this week after driving their hybrids from Detroit to D.C. Anyway, did you
hear the news; the Treasury Dept. has run out of serial numbers to print
anymore $100 bills? So they announced that instead of doing like Argentina
and add three more zeros, they are going to change the Treasury Seal to the
logo's of GM, Chrysler and Ford and print this new money as "CASHBACK NOTES".
Then when you buy that new Ford and get $2,500 cash back, they will give you
25 of the new notes. They hope you will just like Americans buy PROOF sets,
which are only worth about $2. will save a few of the CASHBACK NOTES and
the government will never have to make them good! And maybe the French and
Chinese will start saving them too.

I guess we will save a few, too.

If the Big 3 needs people to buy their cars in order to become solvent
again, I don't see how the latest $15 billion gift will make that happen.
Instead, those billions could go to consumers in the form of say $5,000 or
$10,000 incentive credits toward the purchase of one of the Big 3 cars. The
credit would go to the maker after each sale, and the dealer would get its
normal %. Buyers would return to showrooms. Dealers and Makers would make
money. And the govt (us) would get some clout for its billions.

Too simple to ever happen.

You don't think? You get around much? You always so upbeat?

And I never heard of such a thing as capatalism.

LOL .. I'd also like the UAW to include in their contract language " no
Employee will place an empty beer can in the driver's side fender " ..
Aunt recently bought a new Chevrolet .. kept hearing this "rattling"
sound .. after the obligatory "6-7 visits" to her Local Dealer, and her
being VERY pi$$ed -- they reluctantly agreed to remove the front fender,
though that would actually mean they had to do some work.... anyway,
what the "rattle" was - was a beer can that had been left between the
front fender and the inner fender.

Sorta left her "sympathy" with the Auto Workers in her rear view mirror.
