Obvious Fake 1881 Gold Dollar

1881 LIBERTY HEAD?! And weight is half what it should be, though
seller claims it is "solid gold." I saw another fake gold coin in an
eBay auction a few days ago, but was not able to figure out how to
report it before the auction closed (bidding was quite high). Any
suggestions?

Did you try clicking on the "Report item" link which appears below the
"Other item info" section of every eBay item listing (adjacent to the
"Print" link)?
You can even report items after they close, for what it's worth ...

Glad to help ... eBay moved the "Report item" link from the bottom of
the item listing page to the right side some time ago, and I've seen
some posters in other newsgroups complain that it was "removed" ...
Apparently eBay's attempt to make this link "more obvious" has met with
mixed success ...
The "no returns" policy is fairly toothless given PayPal's Buyer
Protection program. All the "winner" has to do is claim the item is
"Significantly Not As Described" and the seller will generally be forced
to either accept a return for refund or have the money clawed back out
of his PayPal account. (And I think that "coin is counterfeit" will
meet the "Significantly Not As Described" criteria ...).
I in fact had to return a counterfeit item (lithographic copy) within
the past month, but the seller was quite willing to process the refund
despite his "no returns" policy. Dunno if he was just ignorant, or
trying to put something over an unsuspecting buyer. (But I'm on the
lookout to see if the item is relisted ...).
