Priceless items for sale at Unclaimed Property Auction
Updated: Dec 5, 2008 12:43 PM MST
You have a chance to get your hands on some
unusual items Saturday at Nevada's annual
Unclaimed Property Auction.
Items that were abandoned in bank or casino
safe deposit boxes are up for bid. There are
about 250 items for sale this year, including
several gold and silver coins and silver bars.
Those are expected to be hot items since the
price of gold and silver has recently increased.
There is also a half-dime up for bid. It's
more than 150 years old and is a medal from
the Civil War.
"Sometimes the things that you would be able
to pick up, there aren't too many of them out
there anymore, like the Civil War medal,"
explains Mary McElhone, Deputy Treasurer for
Unclaimed Property. "So they are kind of a
novelty and...it might be something really
valuable to have at some point in the future."
The Unclaimed Property Auction will be held
at Noon on Saturday inside the Grant Sawyer
Building on Washington near Las Vegas
Boulevard. A preview of the items and
registration will be held before the auction
from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
..
I guess they are free.
It's Amerika comrade. A brave new world.
Sieg Heil! Hail Darkness! Power to the police state!
Understand who the cops serve. They serve our lawmakers, judges and other
various politicians who in turn, serve corporate and banking interests. The
primary mission of police officers in 2008 is to collect revenue for those
they serve. Why would they want to follow the same rules that they enforce
on everyone else when collecting revenue?
Weelll yes, but I have noticed that none of these unclaimed security box
contents auctions ever include any of the drugs that would almost
certainly been kept in one or more of them.
