Most scanner, photo editing and printer drivers since 2004 or so have
secret software that will not
let you scan, edit or print modern currency of most nations. And most
laser printers print out a
secret dot code that identifies the serial number of the printer.
They should just make sure the guy has the
latest hardware and software.

If you're thinking about the software I'm thinking of, it recognizes
the "Eurion" pattern in current banknotes, or implements the CDS
system used in packages like Photoshop.
I think in the case of the US notes, it wasn't until the
"multi-colored" notes came out that US notes had the Eurion pattern.
Since the first version of Photoshop that I know of that uses CDS came
out in 2003, I don't know if the first gen "big head" US currency
would get detected under CDS. I know this was a story out of the UK,
but I don't have enough British currency on hand to investigate it.
I"m also aware of at least one way to circumvent it with modern
currency and software, but I'm not counterfeiting, and not interested
in telling people how to do it easier.

The newest US $20s definitely do not work with Corel products, Adobe,
and Windows HP printer drivers, nor my Mictrotek scanner. You get

tools from capturing or reproducing the image of a protected banknote.
The technology does not have the capacity to track the use of a
personal computer or digital imaging tools.
