Overpriced Junk Box Items

First, I just had 21 items close on eBay this evening. These were the world
mint/proof sets I announced here over the weekend. I had attractive (IMO)
starting bids and still-attractive (IMO) BIN prices on each, again, as
reported here a couple of days ago.
Despite a poor assessment from one of the "experts" here all but 5 items
sold via eBay. Another one sold to one of the existing buyers. He
apparently still bids manually and couldn't time so many bids in such a
short timeframe. He "missed" one other.
That leaves me with 4 UK single sets. Out of 21. Apparently they weren't
as overpriced as lip-service here would have liked everyone to believe.
Wait for it .... Go FIgure.

Interestingly, it was reported to me that another "expert" here comes across
the types of items I sold this evening in dealers' junk boxes.
I'm going to be honest here, and try not to be too snotty, but it's been
many, many years since I've rummaged around a dealer's junk box. Perhaps
even a couple or three decades. Not that there's anything wrong with this;
apparently at least one of the "experts" here builds his collection in this
manner. I believe the chances are low that I would find anything for my
collection in this type of box. If I would have known they stuff proof and
mint sets in there, I might have looked. Well, when I thought I collected
these things.
So, as a public service, I'm going to alert people to this alleged fact -
there are items that can easily sell on eBay for $10 to $24 each in many
dealer's junk boxes, just waiting to be cherried and resold!
Ok, ok, you've got me. I'm simply making fun of yet-more lip service. What
can I say ... when the room fills with hot air, I like to point to the
source.

I'll offer the remaining 4 sets as a deal to the 2 multiple-item bidders from tonight. Thankfully, they're both in the US. Or, perhaps I'll keep one of them.
What's left of my mint/proof set "collection" would now fit into a single medium box. But I don't even think I want to keep that much around. I think I'll make a couple of lot/piles sometime this week and take one more pass at coin listings. Then off to my limited pile of stamp stuff.
Fair warning. I'll probably post another FA notice soon!

Again, the longer the verbage, the more likely you need to put you
hand FIRMLY over your wallet.
The smart RCCer doesn't have to be a patsy for dubious sellers like
Nick Knight.

You know the answer to this as well as anyone! I understand well,
however, your reason for posting this.
Bottom line is that you can't take at face value the venomous criticisms
you've received here from the usual suspects. It's just empty venting,
and most who have been here more than a short while know who the flamers
and either discount what they say or as you have block their posts from
showing up completely.

Reamo is one of the real "flamers" too... as in the proverbial sense
of a three dollar-bill.
But, more favorably, I don't recall Ream ever trying to get anybody to
part with their money based upon a bunch of phoney-baloney
representations and mis-representations. I can't ever recall him
doing that.
