identifying country of origin for a coin with a hole in it and a lion on it

The lion and the text make me think Ethiopia but closer examination
makes me think that it isn't. The lion isn't holding a spear and the
text... well, I couldn't tell Ge'ez from arabic or farsi lol. I have
no idea what the text is! The person who gave it to me thought it was
chinese or japanese or something but it looks more middle eastern to
me...

Any ideas?

The coin is from Myanmar, that is their lion.
