Police seek $5,000 in missing coins

September 25, 2008 08:42:00 AM
By S. Brady Calhoun / News Herald Writer

The Panama City Police Department is on the lookout for
$5,000 worth of rare coins. Earlier this week a Panama
City man said that his collection had gone missing.
The man was not sure when the coins were stolen and
suspects his roommate, officers said in a news release,
officers said in an incident report. The missing coins
include a Dansco set of Jefferson nickels, liberty dimes,
buffalo nickels and a U.S. Mint set of Lincoln cents.
The victim said the items had been appraised at $5,000
about a year ago.

Puh-lease don't perpetuate one of my pet peeves-- even in a direct quote of
S. Brady Calhoun. Simply put, I'd bet the man actually said that his
collection "was missing", not that it "had gone missing". If this phrase
is considered politically correct nowadays, I'd like to know which
politician(s) favor on its use. Election time is approaching.
