Thumbs up: For the second graders at School 6, who
in the month of December collected 12,126 pennies
($121.26) for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle
campaign. Students were asked to bring in any
pennies they would like to donate as a part of a
month-long focus on the character trait of
"compassion" and tie it in with their study of
coins. The project, called "Every Cent Counts,"
was a success for the kids and their unseen
beneficiaries.
