Counterfeit EUR 200, 000 overwhelmed Europe

Sofia. The amount of circulating fake euro coins
across Europe stood at about EUR 200, 000 in 2008.
There's also been a tangible increase in the
numbers of phony EUR 0.50 and EUR 1 coins, while
fake reproductions of coins of EUR 2 have become
less frequent.

Commenting on the issue, the European Commission
(EC) said we should not worry as the total number
of counterfeits was a way smaller that the normal
coins in circulation. 19 Minutes Daily reports.
