Pot grow raided north of Chico; $100,000 in cash seized

CHIC0 - Authorities found more than 600 marijuana
plants, a large quantity of processed pot, and about
$100,000 in cash when they raided a home on Wookey
Road north of Chico this morning.
A man and woman were arrested at the scene, and
more arrests are expected, officials said.
Taken into custody were Michael Chace Keene, 29,
and Mogen Marymyrth Fishback, 21. Keene's driver's
license showed a Grass Valley address; Fishback's
indicted she was from Nevada City.
Officials said the couple had been renting the
home for more than a year.
A search warrant for the rural property, east of
Meridian Road near the Tehama County line,
included a main house and a large outbuilding.
Butte County Sheriff's Capt. Jerry Smith said
deputies from the Special Enforcement Unit found
the plants in an outbuilding divided into three
rooms.
A large quantity of processed pot was found in
upstairs bedrooms of the house.
Officials didn't have an estimate on the street
value of the marijuana, but said it appeared
that some of what was grown on the property
had already been packaged and distributed.
A safe in a master bedroom contained the cash,
as well as 30 gold coins of unknown value. >>>
Authorities were surprised that no weapons
were located.
A search warrant was also obtained this morning
for a second residence on the property,
allegedly occupied by Keene's brother.
Authorities began searching the property this
afternoon.
