Registered Mail Question

I ordered a coin from a dealer in Canada on 12/22/10.
He claims it was sent Express Mail Registered and supplied a tracking #.
Although he claims he sent it on the 23rd, the tracking # indicates it was the
27th - so either he's lying or Canada Post is lying.
The tracking # indicates the package arrived in the USA at 1AM on 1/6/11.
Well here it is the 11th and it still hasn't made it to my humble abode.
So my question is: is Registered Mail always so slow or do you think this item
has been lost in transit?

speed of delivery is important.
