What is happening to the English language here? Incomplete sentences,
comma errors, run-together sentences ... here is one example:

"You see shipping is not included in the auction fee eBay collects, so
some dealers overcharged on shipping, with free shipping the amount is
included in the sale price, so eBay gets paid."

One would think that people who get paid to write actually had a command
of elementary grammar.

Have to agree with you guys. I believe you will find this ability
right next to good manners, courtesy, and respect in the "no longer
applies" catagory for way too many today.

It makes it past the spell-checker, and that's all they care. At the
retailer where I work there is a closed circuit TV system that runs non-
stop commercials. It would drive me nuts listening to them, as they
spouted the most mangled sentences you ever heard. Clearly noone involved
with production of the ads had any idea what the English language is
supposed to sound like.

There's nothing new in the prevalence of bad writing. It's just that
nowadays, loosened educational standards, word processors, and
"IM-speak" have lowered the bar even more and the Internet spreads it
to much wider readerships.
