Yeah, it's hard to be a good citizen consumer and "Buy American" when even
the government jacks you up this much on the price. :-[
So why do they do it? Because they can. IMO eventually enough fools will
fork over the asking price to produce a complete sell-out of the Mint's
supply. Barring a spectacular further run-up in gold, a year from now most
of those who bought GE's as an "investment" will be wondering why they can't
sell their holdings at a massive windfall profit. "What? Gold went up 25%
and all I can do is break even?"
