BUREAUCRATIC ILLOGIC:

Sometime this year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus
Payment. This is a very exciting new program that I will explain using
the Q and A format:

Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers..

Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. No, they are borrowing it from China. Your children and
grandchildren are expected to repay the Chinese.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-
definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn’t that stimulating the economy of China?
A. Shut up."

I heard that entire bridges would be built there and shipped here to be
installed on piers built by immigrants from China. What?

Both China and India build (inexpensive) cars.

My understanding is that the present $900 billion stimulus bill, still
before the Congress, contains $30 billion for infrastructure. This
smaller amount is less than the amount that Mr. Henry Paulson stole
for his own company, Goldman Sachs.

.........so is there some other lender out there who our children and
grandchildren WON'T have to repay?

This was posted as a humor piece, to show the illogic of our
government (politicians and bureaucrats).

Figures that you wouldn't get it Bruce.

And yes, the vast bulk of our federal debt will never be repaid, in
real terms, to anybody Chinese or other - and possibly the present
system for rolling over the debt could collapse too.

Tata Motors (India) builds Jaguar and Land Rover.
They are sold in English speaking countries where
you would "stay away from buying them"

So few of your "economy" posts contain humor, I guess I didn't. You didn't
get the ironic humor in my comment? You ARE too involved in the seriousness
of all this.

Do you EVER have anything positive to look forward to, or do you usually
just sit there with your head buried in your hands?

When Rover went bust it was bought by a Chinese car company, within 10 years
there will be more cars made in China than in the rest of the world due to
cheap labour costs.

Cars made by the Chinese are not vehicles of great beauty. Billy

They are still made in the UK but both are now owned by Tata after being
sold by Ford.

GM still own Saab and Ford Volvo. Billy
