Anybody have one of those RCC owl tokens, patterned after an ancient
Athenian Owl tetradrachm, that they could part with, either through a
trade or sale? I'm finding myself of late drawn to oddball pieces like
this. Thanks.

Right, that's the one. It was very loosely based on an ancient New Style
Athenian Owl tetradrachm of the second and first centuries BC, only as I
recall it was made in bronze or brass rather than having a silver
appearance (pewter, copper-nickel, or silver plating) as the genuine
coins had, being silver coins. Also, Athena was facing left rather than
right as on the authentic coins, and model used for its design was
actually a reproduction of an ancient coin rather than a genuine ancient
coin itself, so Athena rather than having a pleasant smile or neutral
expression as on genuine ancient coins of this type has a nasty scowl.
And that's just the obverse weirdness. The reverse has a tiny owl and a
huge wreath around the coin's border.

Anyway, as I said, I've lately been drawn to oddball pieces like this,
for their oddballness, I guess.

To anyone who has one of these RCC One Ember tokens and no longer looks
at it or whatever, I can trade, for instance, a genuine ancient coin or
two (not of this type) that have a market value more than what you
originally paid for this token. For anyone who doesn't have any ancient
coins, this could be a good way to dip you toe in the water. Or I can
pay outright, whatever works.

:-(
Pity...
Since two years I live and work abroad and have no time to regularly screen
eBay...
Next Christmas I return home permanently and hope to have more time to find
that Owl, if its shows again on eBay.

Reid / Gogu

I originally purchased three of these, out of sheer greed of course.

I'd be happy to part with one to each of you.

One problem. I moved house last year and haven't managed to completely
unpack my collection. I think I know where they are but it may be a
couple of days before I can check. I do have them though so do not despair.

OK, lord alone knows what their current value is or what you have for
trade that I might be interested in, so let me know how to get in touch
with you and we'll take it from there. My email addy remains the same as
the one we last communicated through if you still have it on record.

Hello Ian and thank's for your kind offer!
I believe it's fair that Reid speaks first as I came second.
If you two fail to agree, then I'd be glad to make an offer, just let me
know!
As for your mail, I have one on file but I am not sure if it's the one you
are still using, is it the one with blueyonder.co.uk after the @?

Ian said he has two he can part with, so unless he want $1,000 for
these, it looks like we'll both get one. <g>
