Hier, je n'ai achete rien. J'ai vends deux dollars des Etats Unis en
argent, un exemple de 1889-CC et un exemple de 1859-0., comme agent
pour le proprietaire. Ils etait des pieces de la monnaie peu
abondante, mais conservation pauvres.
Demain, il y a une bonne bourse en Springpatch; je voudrais acheter
quelquechose de Brasil d'un negociant locale.
J'aime les vieux cuivres anglais; tres historique, mais ils sont
cher!!!

Ya know, it's annoying enough that you folks won't follow etiquette by

Hey, NO DOUBT, I'm very badly educated. Mon viewux Jaggers could
correct my verb tenses all day long (my verb usage is just
pathetic).
But at least I aspire to be better educated (even at age 50), unlike
some unspeakable unmentionables.
I know what Larousse says about "baiser", but I've also heard it used
as an "in-between".

subject has changed. Though bytes are now plentiful, time isn't. It's
difficult to know that a thread has gone off track if the subject line

Eh? The thread started just a few hours ago by oly entitled "PING: Monsieur
Jaggers" did not go off track until you renamed it and took it off track.
It was about coins and you changed it to express your beef, which, by your
apparent standards *you* should have done in private email. Yours was the
fourth post in the thread, and you the third and only other participant, so
what's this "worst offenders" business all of a sudden? You obviously must
have sat there through all those other conversations in the past and said
nothing, so what's the deal with this one? French is a communications tool,
just as is English. Its use does not constitute "touting" French skills any
more than the use of English "touts" a person's English skills.

also young girls were there for the midday youth program. Dealers in

I now wish I had stayed over to attend part of a second day, but foolishly
cancelled my reservation to save a few bucks. I spent way too much time
talking to guys about coins and didn't really see everything. I guess I was
lucky to get what I got. There are always a few dealers that I concentrate
on, and if I have time, canvass the rest.

It was a good show; the hotel (Embassy Suites) is quite good for the
extras of drinkies and breakfast. Based upon prior experience, the
rooms are quite comfortable and spacious. Free parking is a plus
too.
But they aren't giving anything away - I can understand why someone
would want to get back home and avoid the extra expense. Gasoline is
cheaper than it was last year!!!
I didn't overstay either, this time.
I hope that this site works out for the STNA and MSNS Coin Clubs & for
the Scotsmans ' Dealership (The Annual Silver Dollar Show) for some
time to come. It is nice.

Heh. I love Asterix, and have collected all the books - in French, bien
sur! The first time I went over there I stopped by a comic book shop on the
Boul' Mich' and purchased about twenty of them, hardcover no less. The
exchange rate was about nine francs to the dollar at the time, so they were
cheap, but carrying them all over Paris and on the plane was not fun.

At the beginning when I was reading in Greek "they are fool those Romans" I
couldn't understand what's the funny part but later when I learned Italian
and saw a copy in Italian I understood the relation between the Roman flag
and the "Sono Pazzi Questi Romani";-)
Uderzo and Goscinny were really geniuses!

Yes, they were, but here we are hijacking yet another thread. Shame on us.
Apparently, Julius Caesar made a similar remark about the Gauls when he was
fighting there, and that's how the expression got started. Now it is used
with virtually any nationality.
The translator into Italian had to be quite clever to make that transition
from SPQR!

I could make a very crude statement here, but let the record show that I
practice considerable restraint in not doing so.
Ast�rix is not in the same category as the cartoons you mention. Each story
was parceled out into newspapers over a period of approximately one full
year, one episode per week. Then when the tale was completed, the
individual episodes would be collated and published first in hardcover, then
softcover. A few of the stories have been released in full animation, with
running times of about an hour each.
