I am interested in buying some plastic boxes with divided
compartments to store coins.

But, what if they have PVC, or other plastics that might damage
coins via contact or fumes?
How do I know?
I was looking at some today, that were cheap Chinese junk,
without even a recycling symbol.
How do I know if this will somehow put crud on the low-priority
coins in the future? I still want them looking nice for trade.
