OT: $100 bill rejected by ATM

come up with besides the obvious is that it is a 1974 bill and has no strip.
Think that would be the poblem?

1) Putting money *into* an ATM other than in a deposit envelope, or
2) A bill scanner accepting anything larger than a $5.

A local laundromat has a change machine that will take up to a $20;
otherwise there is indeed something bogus about the OP.

You need to get out more. The scratch-off lotto machines here take up to
$20.

I was told by a bank employee that the latest generation ATMs at Bank
of America now accept piles of cash and that inside the machine there
is a scanner that counte and verifies the amount. I have no idea how
they handle rejects or fakes. I'm sure the PDF is online for the
machine. No time to look.

Well,I guess BoA is spending some of that bailout money on high tech. The
new machine lets you put a stack of up to 40 bills at a time of any
denomination . New ways of getting your money all the time.

Here in old Europe *there are* machines placed inside the banks where you
can make a deposit feeding them with banknotes, one by one.
No envelopes.
