Hi
I have a 1969 India proof set up on ebay. Usually I ship
internationally, but I decided not to this time, because I read about
issues of corrupt customs and postal officials, especially in India
and Italy. Seeing this set is from India, am I shooting myself in the
foot here? What recourse do I have if the coins are stolen/confiscated
by customs officials?
Thanks for advice

No, I wouldn't consider you shooting yourself in the foot. Back about
2000, I was approached by an Italian collector looking for U.S.
Statehood quarters. I was looking for 2-Euro coins. We made an
agreement on the trading terms. After about two weeks I received my
Euros. A month later, after not hearing iif the SQs I shpped were
were received, I wrote and asked my trader. He said nothing arrived,
and he felt he got ripped-off. I immediately sent another set. The
second set was delivered.

I found out later that a postal worker in Italy stole the package. I
don't know the details but it was determined the problem was in Italy,
not anywhere in the U.S. or other international transfer points.
