Although other people have run 'swaps', Larry Louks (aka Amistad) did
it for quite a while, and succesfully too. There were a number of
collecting categories as well as values you could select. Larry would
assign swapping partners where you would send something from that
category and price range to another RCC poster. For example, if you
signed up for 'US Coins' and the $50 value, you could expect to either
send or receive that. The best one were the 'round-robins' where
Collector A would send coins to Collector B, Collector B would send
something to Collector C, and Collector C would send something to
Collector A.
Generally speaking it was enjoyable, but there were exceptions. It is
a lot of work running the swaps, and unless someone with a pretty
thick skin is willing to put forth the effort, it ain't gonna happen.
Larry, we miss you, and not just for the swaps either!

Email me back if you want to participate. Use Xmas Swap in the
subject. In the body of your email let me know what your swap criteria
would be but at this point, let's stay true to Larrys catagories.
Of course I'll have to get Larry's super secret formula for how to
make this successful, but hey, I've got thick skin and have always
enjoyed the swaps.

We all have our opinions. But I will say once I got kind of snookered,
but outside of that (15 -20 swaps), I was always happy. As for junk...
you aren't supposed to be sending your junk, your supposed to select
something special to give to some one as a gift. But you are right about
the idea that your junk is probably junk to me also. :-)
Most of us actually would go purchase the items specifically to send.
