Recently, I saw some 20+ year old bags of mint coins for sale.
I assume they are new uncirculated coins when they were bagged?
Depending on the date of the coins I think they might be a good deal?
What do you think?

It would depend on the year and denomination. If they're circulating
coins (meaning common date coins), chances are they're worth face
value, nothing more. The old saying, "If it seems too good to be
true, it probably is," really applies in coin collecting.

Do your research thoroughly, lest you get a severe burn in your
wallet.

Good advice. I tend not to buy on impuilse but try to buy what i likeat
market prices or lately significantly below market pricing.

I suspect they are probably more valuable to a coin dealer who could
sell the choice coins individually and the rest in rolls for a
premium. I'm surprised at what even 20-30 year old BU bank rolls sell
for on eBay sometimes.

But it depends on the date. If there is a high probability of finding
an error or a known variety then it might be worth paying a little
more.

I'll start watching for valuable dates. I assume a sealed mint bag contains
uncirculated coins?

They do now, but I'm not sure if that was always the case.

Some recent bags do not have much of a premium though. Here was one
that sold rectently:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250353419538

$50 of Keel Boat Nickels for $48.50 + $2.50 shipping, only $1 over
face.

I bought two US Mint wrapper rolls (P+D) of WV quarters in a sealed
Mint box recently for $19.61 + shipping. Wish I could get a VA P+D set
for the same price or close to it. However, the early state quarter
mint wrapper roll sets do sell for a premium usually.
