Hello,

I have a Kookaburra $5 Proof issue silver coin from the Perth Mint. It was produced in 1990 and is in excellent condition. The coin has never been touched and resides within a solid plastic case. I would like to know how much this is worth. Where is the best place to obtain a valuation of this coin in Australia? Is it better to sell on ebay or through a dealer. Any recommendations?
Thanks,

Graeme.

According to my 2010 Macdonalds:

Mintage: 21,671
Issue Price: AUD$45
Current Retail: AUD$40
1 ounce.

:-(

The 1991, with a much smaller mintage, has appreciated by a few dollars.
A dealer would probably be reluctant to give you bullion value. I'd risk
eBay.

Isn't is cute how the old saw "It's never been touched!" is always
added by the great unwashed in reference to a proof or proof-like
piece?

I tend to agree with valuation @ melt, plus or minus 10%.

Thanks, Jud.
I read r.c.c. most days, but rarely find motivation to post.

I t seems no-one wants to start a thread on how good (and innovative, and
non-exploitative) Australian NCLT is. :-)
So I have no need to butt in.

There's other topics I could mention, but that'd be trolling...

hooroo for now
