promoting circulation of the dollar coins

It seems to me that if the US Mint is trying to encourage the use of
dollar coins that making a presidential series was a mistake? The
state quarter program is often cited as getting a lot of people
interested in coin collecting. Presumably that's because there's that
much more to collect.

It's like... if you want to save every variety of the Sacagawea
dollar coin, you pull one from circulation, and you're done. If you
want to save every variety of the Presidential dollar coins, you'll
have five new ones you'll have to pull every year.

Also, if the dollar coins is to be circulated concurrently with the
dollar bill, it seems like maybe the US Mint could encourage
circulation by selling the dollar coins for less than their face
value. ie. buy a $25.00 roll for $23.95 or something. The dollar
coins are supposed to be saving the US Mint money, so why not, in the
short term, pass those savings on to encourage spending? Once the
coin has become accepted, the prices can be increased, again.

There are 4 presidents per year, not 5.
