I do sort out the Susies and reload them in the roll wrappers with the
reverse showing on both ends and stamp each roll with:
RARE APOLLO XI
DOLLAR COINS
FROM THE 1900's
I then spend them. Most people will not volunteer venom filled
comments about hating Apollo XI. The average comment (if there is a
comment) is "cool".
I have ordered all of the Presibux rolls from the US Mint direct ship
program and am spending them all over. Most are accepted without any fuss
or hesitation at all. One time at the grocery store I had just one item and
handed the cashier 5 or 6 coins. As I was leaving she said, "Thank you" and
I turned back to see her turning the coins over in her hand and staring at
them in amazement.
I paid back a friend who had paid for dinner with a bunch of the Presibux.
He tried them out at a McDonald's and the cashier at first refused to accept
them. She swore they must be dollars from another country. Appartently she
did not recognize James Monroe and John Quincy Adams as US Presidents or she
though other countries put US Presidents on their coins? Luckily there was
at least one George Washington in the mix. That is when she called the
manager to confirm they were acceptable. The manager confirmed they were
and she reluctantly accepted them.
I used them at a McDonald's and nobody so much as blinked. His bad luck I
guess.
Most people wouldn't. I mean, most people would recognize George
Washington and Abraham Lincoln because their faces appear in all
the president's day sales advertising, and I suppose quite a few
might recognize Jefferson, but I wouldn't reliably recognize another
president after Lincoln until you get to the Rooseveldts.
>though other countries put US Presidents on their coins? Luckily there was
Hasn't that happened? Aren't there countries that produce various
"collectable" coins for the American market with the advertizing hype
"This is an actual coin!"

What about Grant? He was in my American history book alot during Civil
War and some what after.
____________
Why single Grant out? I'm sure *all* the US presidents are covered in
American History textbooks. Is Grant the only one you remember, beyond the
"big-four or five"?
I was pointing him out as a president between Lincoln and T. Roosevelt
that most people could identify. There have even been many movies
where someone has acted the part as Grant. He may not have played as
big a row as president as the above mentioned, but he is well
documented as a person of importance. Especially during the civil war.
Yesterday I gave someone three prez dollars to pay for some party
supplies, and she described an earier experience with them where
the unrecognized president on them was George Washington. The clerk
even sounded out the name.
