MINT SPENDS MILLIONS TO PROMOTE USE OF DOLLAR COINS
By Michael Ravnitzky , mik...@verizon.net

The Mint is spending big bucks to encourage you to use lots of bucks.

The United States Mint has signed a multi-million dollar contract with
advertising firm GolinHarris on a campaign to promote the public use of
Presidential dollar coins.

Also working with the Mint are GolinHarris parent firm Interpublic Group,
and advertising agency Campbell-Ewald. Marketing firm Momentum Worldwide is
doing outreach to retailers.

Another firm, Weber Shandwick, was already paid five million dollars to
promote presidential dollar coins, but is now doing different public
relations work for the Mint.

The Mint is extremely reluctant to discuss the specifics of the contracts,
but you can get from the Mint the following records with a written request:

- a copy of the statement of work for each contract;

- the description and price for each contract; and

- a list of the data deliverables, such as reports, supplied as part of each
contract.

You can also ask for copies of the periodic updates, such as status reports
and briefings, on the progress of the contract.

You can also ask for copies of the reports supplied as part of each
contract.

To get a copy of these fascinating materials, just submit a written request
for the records you want to:
