US Mint Direct ShIp dollar program

Yesterday I got my first dollar coins throught the US Mint Direct Ship
program. 1 box each of John Adams and James Madison rolls arrived in
good shape, in the same shipping box, about two weeks after I placed the
order. They told me that the George Washingtons were back ordered.

These were in standard white/red/blue wrappers, which are different than
"numismatic" US Mint wrappers that identify which mint.

Spot checks came up with all Philadelphia mint marks, as I had hoped
for. True to their word, the Mint did not charge any order or shipping
fees, so I got these for face value only.

There was a minor problem with Native American dollars, though. Their
advance hype was explicit: "available Janueary 2". Yet on that date
they told me "4 to 6 weeks to ship". I wish they would not say
something is available when it's not.

Circulating coins, are coins used in everyday
general commerce. They are not Numismatic
(collector), coins.

You're claiming here that circulating coins are not collector coins. Don't
tell that to the gazillion state quarter collectors or to those of us who
built the core of our collections from searching through circulating coins.

This means coins that are designed and manufactured for regular retail
business and money exchange purposes, such as the ordinary cent, nickel,
dime, quarter, half dollar, and now dollar coin. The specially finished
proof and satin finish US Mint coins are common examples of some things
that are *not* circulating coins, even though they are legal tender.

I got my box of 500 Native American dollars last week. I've already
started spending them.

I just got the e-mail saying they finally shipped them yesterday. I
ordered the first business day when I knew about them (1/5).
Still no word about normal distribution to banks. I called the
district 12 csah office and they basiclly read the same info on their
website.....
