Went to our bi-monthly local coin show (light turnout of dealers and patrons, probably due to the horrendous weather). Got 3 Boy Scout silver $1 BU in OGP for $29 each, which is about melt. Makes me think that, in general, buying commemorative dollars from the Mint is folly, since for the past several months I've been picking them up for melt or a tad over.

It seams that most of the modern commemoratives produced by the USM trade as gift ware. The mint is producing so many commems with poor designs that they have lost their cachet.
