You can find a combined photo of a Kedahan 2008 silver 5 Dirhams in my
gallery on www.coinnetwork.com .

It commemorates the Golden Jubilee of Sultan Abdul Halim Shah of
Kedah.

It isn't listed in Krause at all.

Please let me know what you think.

Unlike a former era, when Krause & Mishler were actually on board and made
their coin catalogs a labor of love, the duties of cataloging new issues are
now discharged by a person who has multiple other tasks in his job
description. At least half of their dedicated coin catalog specialists have
left the company during the past five years. Couple that with the very real
fact that world mints do not always notify the cataloguing department of
their new releases, and it is not at all surprising that your coin is not
listed. If you really want to make it happen any time soon, send your coin
insured to Krause in care of George Cuhaj for him to photograph and catalog.
He will return the coin insured and perhaps reimburse you for your cost of
mailing.

It is very hard to post any coins out of New Zealand,as mail
containing them often goes missing,so I am not going to risk posting it
to George Cuhaj.

The time for a www.zeno.ru - type gallery for world
banknotes,coins,currency tokens,& postal orders is most definitely long
overdue & sorely needed.

The cataloguers need to see the errors of their ways.

Suit yourself. The cataloguers are paid for a 40-hour work week. I
recommend that you not suggest to them that they work overtime for no extra
pay.

I'm not suggesting that the cataloguers work overtime.

What I am suggesting is for the numismatic community to get directly
involved in creating a resource to educate newer members of the
numismatic community as well as the cataloguers themselves.

The world numismatic photo gallery would be contributed to by the
numismatic community for the numismatic community.

We need to get numismatic societies involved as part of the process.

Your statement about the cataloguers' "error of their ways" prompted me to
make the observation. The reality is that they are doing the best they can
with the resources they are provided by the corporation that writes their
job descriptions and pays their wages..

The proper way to educate the cataloguers at Krause is to ship them coins,
or at least, to send them pictures and specs of new issues. My guess is
that they would be delighted to receive ready-made copy.

Please understand that none of these comments is intended to disparage what
you are doing or what you are suggesting. Keep up the good work!
