Coin Collectors are Gathering in LA for Largest Coin Show of the Year

For five days starting on August 5th, Los Angeles
will be the center of the numismatic world. The
American Numismatic Association's annual World's
Fair of Money Convention is considered by many to
be the greatest coin show on earth.
Over 1,100 dealers will be attending, operating
booths to buy, sell and trade literally hundreds
of millions of dollars worth of coins; from
Ancient coins of Greece and Rome, Banknotes,
Rare US coins, World coins and every form of
Gold and Silver bullion imaginable.
CoinLink.com, a major source for rare coin news
has reported that some of the most valued
rarities in numismatics will be on display.
The Smithsonian Institution will display several
seldom-seen national treasures from the National
Numismatic Collection, including one of only two
known 1849 pattern Double Eagles, $20
denomination gold coins and an example of the
world's most valuable coin, a US gold 1933 $20
Double Eagle which sold for $7.5 million in a
2002 auction.
The U. S. Treasury Department Bureau of Engraving
and Printing will have over $1 Billion of currency
on display including multiple sheets of $100,000
Bills
The Famous 1787 Brasher Doubloon with its unique
hallmark-on--breast will also be there. This famous
coin was hand-struck by George Washington's onetime
neighbor, silversmith Ephraim Brasher. Some
numismatists consider this "the single most
important coin in American numismatics."
Finally, three of the five known 1913 Liberty Head
nickels will be displayed together. Each is worth
in excess $3 Million dollars.
In total there will be more than 100 exhibits
covering almost every aspect of numismatics.

It is always neat to see a Brasher doubloon, but I'm not gonna buy
into that label real quick.
