Strong sales at Fort Worth show

was walking around as unofficial ambassador chatting with the
dealers...almost all of them said they were really selling a lot of
merchandise at strong prices...the only problem is that there were not
enough people selling back to the dealers so they could replinish
inventory. I saw 1000 oz silver bars trading for $1400...unheard of
premium. 90% silver selling for 12X face...1 oz rounds at $15.00.
I heard the PA system call that Brian O. had won a door prize on
Saturday, but was not sure if he was present.
Many reminisces about Helen Wallace, who passed away last week, and
her husband Bob, whose coin and stamp store was a major national
dealer in Fort Worth for 60 years (supplying many showcase coins to
Amon Carter Junior AND Senior) ....and beating out B. Max Mehl's 54
years in business in Fort Worth

There was a coin show today (11/9) here in Springfield, Illinois. The
number of dealers in attendance was down by at least ten percent
(however, several deaths in our aging dealer community here during the
last twelve months). The number of persons in attendance was down
too. However, those in attendance came to spend some money. 90%
silver coin was selling briskly at ten times face and there were very
few silver quarters or halves available at the end of the day.

Don't worry, Frank and the rest of the local vultures will get there first. This is
true in all collectible areas. The insiders always get in some way to cherrypick and
take advantage of any survivors under the guise of "helping them through this
