Man zapped, held in tub during home invasion

A 56-year-old Burlingame coin dealer was zapped with
a stun gun and duct-taped to his bathtub during a
home invasion robbery at his apartment Sunday night,
according to police.
The victim, a resident of the Northpark Apartments at
1085 Rollins Road, was leaving his apartment when a
man armed with a knife approached him, opened the
apartment door, and pushed him back and onto the floor
at 7:55 p.m., police said.
After a struggle, the resident attempted to get up
from the ground, at which time the attacker shot him
with a stun gun, said Capt. Mike Matteucci of the
Burlingame Police Department. The attacker then tried
to tie up the man using zip ties, but was unsuccessful.
Eventually, the attacker duct-taped the resident to his
bathtub, where he was forced to sit for the remainder
of the incident, Matteucci said.
The attacker then stole several books of coins from the <<
resident, who is a coin dealer, Matteucci said.
The resident suffered scrapes to his face and shoulders,
and marks from the stun gun, but refused medical
treatment. The assailant apparently never used the knife
during the attack.
Matteucci said investigators believe the resident was
targeted because he is a coin dealer, but the victim
apparently did not recognize his attacker.
The suspect is described as a short white man in his
30s with blond hair who was wearing a dark blue parka
or raincoat, jeans and a knit cap during the attack. He
was also carrying a large sack with him during the
incident.
