Got on the Mint site at Noon Wednesday - system was a little slow and I
had to reload the page a few times during checkout but I got my order
for two in.
Notified that they were shipped today.
They apparently sold out because when I looked at the Mint site today,
they are on back order.
So, despite all the pissing & moaning in the numismatic press and
elsewhere, I've obtained the first 3 sets with a minimum of effort.

I had the typical Mint "connection reset by server" rigamarole for about
fifteen minutes, eventually got through to the "Confirm Order" page and
ONCE AGAIN FORGOT to click the "I accept the terms" checkbox before
clicking the "Confirm Order" button. Five minutes (and several
reloads) later I finally got back, clicked the ^%&*#@$$%^ checkbox and
clicked the "Confirm Order" button.

Got a confirmation for the two sets, but they're "backordered" (until
late Sept or early Oct depending on which mint press release you believe
...). No big deal, but they might have shipping already if I'd been
more careful ... Reportedly they sold 40,000 sets in the first hour,
and virtually none since ... they were still available for ordering
(though backordered for shipping) at noon today according to reports on
the PCGS message board.

Logged on to the mint website this morning and the sets are still listed as available.

Purportedly a lot of the "flippers" whose orders have not yet shipped
are cancelling their orders since it appears that there will not be a
huge run up in price in the aftermarket ... "Live" sets on eBay are
reportedly selling at around $75, which doesn't leave much of a profit
after taking eBay and PayPal fees into account.

It will be interesting to see if the "quantity sold" in the Mint report
actually DECREASES this week ...

FWIW, the March of Dimes sets continue to decline ... I picked up four
sets in the past two weeks in the $62 - $68 range, delivered ... Think
I'll hold off on bidding for any more til I find out what I can sell
them for ...

Heh! Turns out I was right ...

# 9/20/2015..2015 KENNEDY COIN & CHRONICLES SET...48,462
# 9/27/2015..2015 KENNEDY COIN & CHRONICLES SET...48,203

The quantity sold of the JFK set actually went DOWN by 259 sets last
week ... clearly the number of cancellations/returns exceed the number
of new purchases. Will The Trend Continue? How Low Can They Go?? Tune
in next week, same Battime, same Batchannel!!!

Where do you find these numbers on the Mint site?

The JFK set is under the "Special Collectibles" category, which is on
page 1 of some reports, and on page 2 on some other reports ... The
reports are updated every Tuesday afternoon, so the next update will be
on 10/6.

At the bottom of the website page should be a site listing, under, About, is a "Production & Sales" link. It is updated weekly.

Woo Hoo, the JFK Coin and Chronicles set is finally SOLD OUT ("Out of
Stock" in Mint parlance ...).

Official sales figgers:

9/20/2015...2015 KENNEDY COIN & CHRONICLES SET...48,462....48,462
9/27/2015...2015 KENNEDY COIN & CHRONICLES SET...48,203......-259
10/4/2015...2015 KENNEDY COIN & CHRONICLES SET...49,733.....1,530

I guess we'll see if there are any additional returns over the next few
weeks. Reportedly all the sets have shipped, so there should be no more
cancellations of unshipped orders ...

Only twenny-too days to the LBJ C&C circus ...

I believe the mintage will be 50,000 for the LBJ set too. It would appear that all those irate letters to the editor in the coin publications was not really about missing out on a chance to own a set but the chance to own a low mintage issue they could make some money off of.....lol. Now that every one has a chance to get one it takes a bit longer to sell out!

Big correction, the LBJ coin and chronicles set will have a 25,000 set limit so it will probably sell out quick.
