I remember when it started. At first, there was a Usenet mail list, coins[at]
cobra.uni.edu, from the University of Northern Iowa. One thing about Usenet - and the Internet generally in those days - was that commercial messages were prohibited.
At that time, the commercial online services included Genie, Prodigy, and CompuServe.
For myself, I drifted away from RCC and what little work I do in numismatics online is with CoinTalk, CoinPeople, NumisSociety, and The Esylum. The moderated boards avoid a lot of problems. Still, it is nice to know that RCC is still around.
