I reluctantly decided to continue my roll set of president dollars and
ordered a roll of Chester Arthur coins from the Mint the day after they
became available in mid-April, along with several other sets, hoping to
combine the shipping charge. The other sets were shipped promptly, but the
Arthur roll was listed as "backordered" with shipping projected on May 15.
Today I received an email from the Mint informing me that the Arthur roll is
now "backordered" with a projected date of June 15.
If the Mint is expecting to produce four different president dollars
this year, it sure is strange why there is such a delay and why they
announced an initial ordering date when they would be unable to ship the
product until two months later-- or even later. Makes me w wonder if the
big dealers who advertise them actually have these rolls in hand already.

We received the same notice on our order of D-Mint Arthur dollars. By
the way,
a Coin World article just stated that the final combined mintage of
these is
about 10% of the previous issue.

Since there will be no circulation strikes, I wonder if that 10% is similar
to the number from the previous issue sold by the Mint in rolls and bags.

If, for some reason, your order is cancelled, I still have four extra
P-Mint rolls available.

Thanks. I suppose my one P-roll will get here eventually, but maybe not
before they announce the availability of the next president. Strange that
most of their other products are ready to ship when they announce their
order openings.
