The album was short ONE of the "Safety guard slides" which is the
official Dansco term for the clear plastics which cover each side of
the coins. The size of the clear plastic is 4" by 6", MOL.
The guy who sold the album was "blowing them out"; coin supplies is
not his normal business. His price was right and the album was still
shrink-wrapped. I really don't think he has any extras.
Any suggestions where to get the needed extra slide??? I'd prefer to
get the "archival" "safety" material and NOT use mystery plastic.

Are you talking about album #7143? I just checked mine, and the big slides
are 2 7/8 x 6 1/8, more or less. What's this 4 x 6 business?
And are you *sure* that you didn't double up somewhere when yoyu installed
them, as those ship in an envelope usually.
In any event I've got a slug of old slides that came out of Dansco and
Whitman albums of various vintages, and I happen to have one that is 3 1/8 x
6 inches, with rounded corners at one end, the other end is square. It's
pristine (no dimples) and if you like, I'll throw it in my coin bag and
start hauling it around to shows and eventually see you & hand it off. I'll
even cut it down to size in an old schoolhouse paper cutter if you like.

Yes, it is the album #7143. My "eyeball" was done using a dollar
bill, that's where I got the 6" estimate. If you say that it is only
2 and 7/8ths the other direction I'm sure you're correct. I will
likely be in STL (St. Charles) later this month. Many thanks.
The occasion for getting another album was that I got two (not one) of
the additional Dansco pages for the D.C. and territories. So then,
what the hell, I had to get another #7143 album.
I know about the packrat part. Describes me as well.

I just cut the slide down to size and tried it in my own album. It fits
just fine.
I'll be in StL on the Thursday afternoon and the Friday morning. The slide
is already in my coin bag, waiting.
There are lots of times when a coin will rotate or even rattle around in an
album port that is too large. In that case I take one of these slides and
cut a very narrow strip from it, equal in width to the thickness of the coin
itself. Then I use that strip to bush the inside of the album opening until
the coin snugs up. Lots of swearing can take place during this last
critical step. I cut a few of those for you as well. Looking forward to
that show in just three weeks!

I will try to be there Friday, early. St. Louis shows are always
good, it is a great coin town.

Cut one to size out of a mylar safety currency sleeve.
That's a good idea, actually. I will do that if I don't happen to see
James later this month.

You're suggesting that I'm easy to miss?
