I was trying to check my status on something I am bidding on and
cannot even log on
I tried calling 866-540-3229 and it says to log on first and get a
PIN number before you can talk
to someone...

Did you not get the email from ANA headquarters? There is currently a
dispute between the ANA leadership and certain ebay admins over some
sort of 'financial incentives' being slow to arrive.

Seems like a major glitch but has now been resolved.

site went down regularly, and there was only one server, no backup, no
mirror, and when it went down, the panic level went up. Finally, one
night, June 11, 1999, the site crashed but good. Meg had cots brought
in to Ops, had pizza delivered, informed everyone that we would be
staying until the site was back up. Oracle and Sun Microsystems sent
engineers. The site got back up after about 22 hours, and redundant
servers were ordered. Shorter outages continued until the backup system
was installed and after that, there has been no site-wide outage.
