Hi,

I'm new to this newsgroup and thought I'd leave a little intro. I'm a
violist with the New Your Philharmonic Orchestra. I've been collecting
cards since the mid 80's.

I recently purchased a card on eBay and hope someone can give me some info
about it. It seems to be a 1997 Donruss Platinum Press Proof ERROR of Frank
Thomas. The back appears to be the standard 97 Platinum PP back saying 1 of
150 but the front has no purple borders (white borders) and does not say
Platinum Press Proof. It does however say Donruss Signature Series.

Any information on this card is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Barry

Sounds like some sort of print error, obviously, but a scan would help clear
it up.

This is a known error. Donruss admitted (back then) that a mistake had
been discovered where some proofs did not get the foil treatment. I
believe the guess was that around 25 of each card might have this error.
I know I had one (Dave Justice) which I traded to a player collector.

I'd treat it like the 97 Donruss Limited Limted Exposure non-glossy
cards. An oddity that some type of "specialist" collector might be
interested in.
