Hi all,

If you have Quicktime 6 and a FAST connection (size is around 8MB),
there is a short (2-3 minute) video of Hardly Manson and my ascent of
the Nose route on El Capitan this past June. Tim "The Toolman"
Schneider did some of the video and all of the post production. Hans
did most of the shooting. It only has video from the first half of the
climb, as we were too slow and Hans booked for the top. I'll
eventually do a trip report as this was a momentous week for me. We
did the nose in just under 22 hours. I was horrifically slow aiding
the upper sections in the dark, but it was a fun, new experience.

This is sort of cool in that my first post to this news group (back in
1990) was about getting my ass kicked just trying to climb up to
Sickle Ledge. I eventually did the Nose in 3.5 days in 1991 or 1992?
The mind goes, you know...

For the video see: http://homepage.mac.com/timschneider/iMovieTheater1.html

Cheers,
Bill

I don't. (56k)
How can I download the file directly, and then play it on my comp?
Streaming video just won't work for me.

On the edge of my seat,

A bit of poking around in the HTML at that link reveals that the actual
movie is at: http://homepage.mac.com/timschneider/.Movies/niad2.mov

(Grrrr... a pet peeve is web pages that rely on java or javascript when
a simple link to the file would suffice!)

The file is 14MBytes, so at 56kbps it will take .... well, a LONG time
to download!

Windows Media Player won't play it, but you can download Quicktime from
apple (just search on google)

Direct download is available if you look at the selections
across the top of the previously mentioned page
(go to the Public Folder)

you can grab it from there if so inclined.

cheers,

-tim

ps btw the java crap is just so I can put the vid in that cool
retro TV looking graphic and see how many hits the thing is
getting. (plus it's easy to publish from the Mac that way, till
I cancel my .mac account next year due to the outrageous price
that Apple is asking for year 2)
