Is there another 9mm sharp-edge-resistant rope out there? One with a
double-pic sheath so it has the nice handling and durability the Stratos
did?

Extrem is the 9.0 double rope from Edelweiss. Betcha this one feels the
same. They also have a couple of 8.2 versions. (http://www.edelweiss-

That notice is four years old. Are you sure it's still in effect?
I don't see the "Extrem" for sale anywhere. I do see that they now list
the "Sharp" as their edge-resistant rope -- it's still made in a 10.5mm,
like the Stratos, but the skinny option is now 8.5mm. That's a little
_too_ skinny for my taste...

According to Sterling Jim the sharp edge certification eas suspended 3 years
ago
He posted the following on another board.
"I apologize if someone already addressed this but it was mentioned that the
rope (Monster) was sharp edge certified/rated. It is not and in fact no rope
is. That standard was suspended about 3 years ago for several reasons, not
the least of which is the fact that it does not represent in any way how a
rope is cut in the real world."
