While hauled, an electrician agreed to do wiring for my autohelm. He
procrastinated until my boat was being put back in the water and
copped an attitude. Then he started calling me 4 times a day
demanding payment.

He was outraged that I hadn't made a special trip to pick up his bill,
and not happy when I suggested that he mail it or fax it to me.
Finally he faxed it to me.

Despite the fact that he refused to follow my written and oral
instructions on the installation of my autohelm and put it on
backwards and despite the fact that I will have to reinstall it myself
(which is what I should have done in the first place), I decided to
follow the path of least resistance and submitted payment instructions
to my online banking service. The check should arrive at his PO Box
(if it is existent) sometime this week . . . within two weeks of his
service.

But, my marina had a phone call saying that a recovery services wanted
to place a notice of lien on my boat today . . . three working days
after receiving the bill.

I am amazed not only by his poor work but by his questionable ethics,
and certainly do recommend you tell anyone you know to avoid having
work done by this person . . .

I went back to the club, and friends told me that two big guys had
been there and wanted to get to "Magic" to fix the air conditioning."
They had been apprised of the situation with these people and said
they did not to have keys to the dock, and that if they wanted to do
work, they'd have to contact the owner (me).

When I got there and heard the story, Jamie and his worker tooled up
to the club menacingly. He said "Did you get my bill?" (he had faxed
it) I said I had, of course, as he had faxed it to me the past
thursday night. Then he said "I want you to pay me for it now." I
told him I had sent it to him via online banking -- he was surly about
that and angry and also didn't understand about online banking but
finally understood what I was saying . . . and went away.

So, as of now, I reckon the problem is solved. It must have been all
intimdation tactics--his calling the club and all that -- but I think
he might have violated marine law had he boarded the boat and all
that. And lying by saying he wanted to do "air conditioning" on the
boat? Was that a threat that they were going to put holes in it?

I deplore his tactics, his lack of integrity, his lack of principles .

Had he been as assiduous in performiing his duties as he was
on getting paid, he would have had fantastic PR from me as well the
satisfaction of having done a done a good job.

Instead, he harassed me for his payment--and, while the charge of $150
is far in excess of what the job was worth to me or what I had agreed
to, it certainly isn't enough to run around town harassing me and
trying to literally chase me down for the big bucks!

I do NOT believe he would have done the intimdation tactics or the
harassment were I not a woman.

I have learned a big lesson here . . . one that I have learned in most
instances . . . to pay attention to that little voice inside my head.
To learn to walk away and not negotiate or argue with the voice/gut
feeling but just go with it. (I _almost_ told him to forget it (when
he was copping an attitude) but chose to ignore that instruction
because it seemed the path of least resistance . . . wrong!)

But, back to the karma . . . I have helped him adjust his karma by
telling you and others about his attitude and skillset problem. I
have done my part and kept my commitment. I believe my karma is safe
and protected as I have behaved honorably.

And I simply do not wish to be depleted by this troubled person. And
I hope no one else is troubled by him.

He may have been slightly less prone to it. I know in my case I would
not have paid him at all and would have taken him to small claims court
for the damage he had done to my boat (installing th autopilot
backwards).

Thanks for telling us about this scumbag.

He will get his just due.
