I ain't used to this and I think I might have already messed somethign
up. Something about server names, now I don't knwo how to erase it
and figure it all out.
nuts with the dog. I have the stare in the headlight feel kinda like
Indiana Jones when he falls into the snake pit.
*gulp*
I ain't never seen anything like this.
er........
Turely I AM computer illiterate!
Agent is about 1000 times too complex for simple usenet reading.
All you really need is a simple program like Thunderbird. I can talk you
through the full set up of that and get you up and running in about 10
minutes.
Really.
If you want some help with that, let me know.
Well, Harry. If I can't get some help on this I may take you up on
the offer.
But net the record show, that I *AM* making an effort to get a reader.
i know, I know, sometimes I can actually tear up an anvil with a
feather.
REALLY!
"Let" the record show....
cripes!
How hard is this? Jeezum pete.
Go to Tools/Servers and Accounts - that opens a window.
Highlight News Servers and at the bottom of the window there is a New
button.
Press New and type in your server name in the following format:
news.whatevernews.com or what ever news server you are using.
From there it's a logon screen - user name and password.
That's it. Can't be any simpler than that.
for me it can be very difficult, Pete.
but I'll see if I can attack it some more tonight. gotta go to work...
*argh!*
According to Harry, it's much to complex to figure out!!!!

Looks like you're doing fine. Remember, Thunderbird is the program that
won't let Harry download multi-part files. If you've got a question about
Agent, give a shout.

But 'net' wasn't misspelled.
Right you are.
I *don't* download those itty bitty multipart files you like. If I want
to upload or download a large multipart movie, or a large multipart
program file, or a multipart music file, I simply upload or download
several .rar files. There are several slick, modern programs that
prepare .rar files.
Your "knowledge base" is obsolete, Herring. So is Agent. It's still the
kludge of newsgroup readers.
Using "Agent" to download or upload bitty multi-part files was out of
date technology a generation ago.
And, Agent will download multipart .rar files and assemble them. You might
want to get WINRAR to use for extracting if you download them.
I'm still using v1.91, so I'd imagine v4.2 (or whatever) has more
capabilities than mine. Agent has always been the best, and I'm sure it
leads the pack now.
No,no, not if Harry doesn't use it. If Harry can't or don't use it,
it's useless junk, just like NASCAR, ETecs, etc.
